Abstract

A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW ON ABRUS PRECATARIOUS (GUNJA)

ABSTRACT

This article provides detailed and important information about Gunja according to Ayurveda. Gunja (Abrus precatorius Linn.) is also known as Indian licorice. It is classified as Upavisha (semi-toxic drug) and is widely used in various Ayurvedic formulations and essential medicines. According to Ayurveda, Gunja, but Godugdha (milk), Kanji (sour porridge), etc. It can be controlled after undergoing Shodhana (process of purification) using various mediums including and the leaves are used as ingredients in many recipes. Netra roga (eye disease), Khalitya and Indralupta (hair loss), Sarpa Visha (rat poison), Jwar (fever), Keshya (hair tonic), Prameha (urinary tract disease), etc. are some aspects of these diseases. shows various treatments such as. precatorius can be poisonous. The in vitro antibacterial and antifungal properties of acacia plants clearly show that all plants have significant antibacterial and antifungal properties. Therefore, this review aims to collect new information and highlight the features of their pharmacological effects in various diseases.
