ABSTRACT
Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are serious complications of diabetes mellitus that frequently come along with delayed wound healing and a higher possibility of infection. Alternative therapies might have to be explored in traditional treatments that have proved successful in achieving the desired outcomes. Sea buckthorn, or Hippophae rhamnoides, is gaining attention because of its potential medicinal properties in the treatment of DFU. The intention of this review is to examine the therapeutic potential of Hippophae rhamnoides in DFUs, with a focus on safety issues, clinical evidence, and mechanisms of action.
