ABSTRACT
Scabies is caused by burrowing and release of toxic or antigenic substances by the female mite Sarcoptes scabiei var.hominis. The most important factor that determines spread of scabies is the extent and duration of physical contact with an affected individual. The children are most at risk, Scabies is transmitted only rarely by fomites because the isolated mite dies within 2-3 days. Up to 10% of children in unhygienic and crowded areas are affected by scabies. Recurrent infestations are common. In siddha literature describes “SIRANGU” as a disease characterized by, itching followed by one or more papules, this became change into vesicles and sometimes pustules. Siddha literatures and indexed journal are the main source of this review. The aim of the review is to prove the efficacy in treating the disease Sirangu (Scabies). The chemical constituents, action and uses taken from various electrical journals and siddha literatures helps in finding the evidenced based polyherbal formulation Seenthil Kirutham in curing Scabies.
