AGNIKARMA ON AVABAHUKA: A SINGLE CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
A female patient aged 48 years from Nalbari, Assam approached Shalya OPD of Govt. Ayurvedic College, Guwahati-14 with complaincts of pain and stiffness along with restricted movement of Right shoulder joint since 4 months. Initially it was intermittent type of dull ache and later on it was increasing specially at nighttime, sleeping on same side and in cold weather. Patient took oral analgesic tab from pharmacy but didn’t got relief and there was no history of trauma, fall or surgery and no history of Hypertension, Diabetes mellitus. On examination tenderness elicited near shoulder joint adduction-00, Abduction-1300, Flexion-500, Extension-100.The case was diagnosed as a Avabahuka. After proper investigation the patient was planned for Agnikarma therapy. Agnikarma therapy was performed as per classical method described in Sushrut Samhita by using Panchadhatu Shalaka for a duration of 14 days with interval of 7 days in 2 sitting. After 1stsitting pain and stiffness redused and after 2nd sitting pain & stiffness redused completely and patient can move her hand freely.
