ABSTRACT
Diabetic Neuropathy (DN) is one of the prevailing micro vascular complications of diabetes which can be characterized by neuropathic pain. Streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetes in the rat has been increasingly used as a model of painful diabetic neuropathy. STZ injection leads to neurotoxicity of peripheral nerves that leads to development of Peripheral Diabetic Neuropathy in rat model. The present study is aimed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of Ottelia Ovalifolia (O. Ovalifolia) on Streptozotocin induced paw edema in rats as for controlling inflammatory disorders. Acute toxicity of the extract (2000 mg/kg) was examined in wistar rats for 14 days. Qualitative analysis of various phytochemical constituents was determined by the well-known test protocol available in the literature. Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of phenols, tannins, Keywords: Ottelia Ovalifolia, Blood glucose level, Body weight, Estimation of antioxidant parameters.
