ABSTRACT

The demand for herbal-based personal care products has surged owing to their perceived safety and efficacy. In this study, we formulated and evaluated a novel herbal powdered handwash containing Ocimum Basilicum extract, renowned for its antimicrobial properties. The powdered formulation was developed using a combination of natural ingredients, including surfactants and skin-soothing agents, to ensure effective cleansing and moisturizing properties. The antimicrobial activity of the handwash was assessed using standard microbiological methods, demonstrating significant inhibition against a panel of common bacteria and fungi, including Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans. Additionally, the handwash exhibited favorable sensory attributes, with a pleasant fragrance and smooth texture, enhancing user experience. Stability studies revealed adequate shelf-life under recommended storage conditions. Furthermore, skin compatibility tests demonstrated the handwash's safety for regular use, with no observed irritant or sensitizing effects. Overall, our findings suggest that the herbal powdered handwash containing Ocimum Basilicum extract holds promise as a natural and effective alternative for maintaining hand hygiene, catering to the growing consumer demand for eco-friendly and skin-friendly personal care products.
