TARPANA-AN OVERVIEW: IN NETRA ROGAS WITH SPECIAL MENTIONING IN THE TREATMENT OF SUSHKAKSHIPAKA

ABSTRACT
Eye is the very essential sense organ in the body. Without eyes the world will be dark and the times will be hard. So, we have to take care of our eyes in every possible aspects. Modern ophthalmology has many measures for the care and management of eyes. In Ayurveda, the section of procedures which is exclusively for Jathrurdhwa rogas is known as Kriyakalpa. The selection of the procedure will depend on the part affected, the vitiated dosa and the line of management needed in the specific condition. Tarpana is one among the Kriyakalpa which is very effective and least adverse effect. Sushkakshipaka(dry eye) is a common ocular condition that has a high impact on the quality of life of afflicted individuals owing to discomfort or visual disability. Tarpana has a great role in dealing this state of disease well by its tendency of Brihmana (nourishment) and Swasthyarakshana (keeping the healthy state). This article deals with an overview of Tarpana and its effect in Sushkakshipaka (Dry Eye).
