ABSTRACT
Migraine (Ardhavabhedaka) is an episodic headache disorder typically characterized by pain affecting either half of the head. According to the International Headache Society, migraines account for 16% of primary headaches and affect approximately 10-20% of the general population. Ardhavabhedaka is classified under Shiroroga (diseases of the head) in Ayurvedic texts, correlating it with migraines. Acharya Charaka considers Nasya Karma (Errhine Therapy) the best therapeutic intervention for Shiro Roga. Additionally, Acharya Vagbhata mentions Kumkumadi Ghrita in the context of Shiroroga Chikitsa. Various nervine tonics in herbs are also noted for their potential to cure Migraine (Ardhavabhedaka). This clinical observation aimed to assess the efficacy of MIGROL CAPSULE in managing Migraine (Ardhavabhedaka) as an alternative to Nasya Karma. After administering a dose of 500 mg MIGROL CAPSULE BD for 15 days, a considerable improvement was observed in the clinical features of migraines. Materials and Methods: The subject, who approached theOPD of Rasa Shastra evam Bhaishajya Kalpana at Shri Krishna Govt. Ayurvedic College, Kurukshetra, Haryana (136118), had been experiencing migraine symptoms for 4 years. The subject was systematically reviewed and administered 500 mg MIGROL CAPSULE BD for 15 days as the line of treatment. Results: The subject showed marked improvement, as evidenced by the scoring scale before and after treatment. Discussion: By adopting a holistic approach that includes both internal and external treatment modalities, this study attempts to achieve satisfactory results in managing migraines.
