ABSTRACT
Background -Pharmacognosy studies play an important role in the identification of the genuine plant of various Ayurvedic raw drugs. Adulteration/substitution exists for many ayurvedic raw drugs due to the non-availability of genuine herbs in required quantities and controversy in the selection of source plants. Badara (Ziziphus Jujuba Mill.) fruit. is an important plant seen growing in wild and cultivated too. This fruits has medicinal and nutritional value also. Hence the present report on Pharmacognosy study of Badara (Ziziphus Jujuba Mill.) fruit which includes Macro & Microscopic Study. Methods- Macroscopic study done in conventional procedure using Stereo microscope (Zeiss Stemi) and free hand sections method used for microscopy. Results- The Macro & Microscopic features of badara fruit are documented in photographs using camera and it corroborates with the literature description (API), QSIMP. Conclusion- The present Pharmocognostic characterization of Badara (Ziziphus Jujuba Mill.) fruit will help to supplement information on identification andstandardization.
