STRENGTHENING PHARMACY EDUCATION WITH LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (LMS)

ABSTRACT
Objective: Learning Management Systems has greatly reduced teaching stress and enhanced teaching with aided advantage to provide knowledge and skills for enabled competences for professional practices. This study evaluates the impact of this evolving technological advancement on pharmacy education. Methods: Sets of structured questionnaire were used to elucidate information from students and lecturers of a faculty of pharmacy. Descriptive and inferential statistics using frequencies mean and standard deviation were used to analyze data obtained to test all hypotheses. Results: Majority (99.5%) of the students does not interact with lecturer through the school porter and majority (98.9%) does not interact with their fellow students. The average mean scores of the statement items employed for perceived usefulness was computed to be 2.528 (Positive). Conclusion: The Perceived usefulness and Ease of use forlectures and student is computed positive. However, the lack of infrastructure and negative instructional management is proving an uphill task for pharmacy education through technological advancement use of the learning management systems in tertiary institutions faculty of pharmacies. Faculty of pharmacies requires innovative technological devices for professional advancement to strengthen pharmacy education. The accreditation agencies such as the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria and National University Commission should ensure availability as required bench-marks.
