Abstract

MATRA BASTI – AN EFFECTIVE VATOPKRAMA IN MANAGEMENT OF KATISHOOLA - A CRITICAL REVIEW

ABSTRACT

The most prevalent long-term musculoskeletal ailment is low back pain (LBP). Its symptoms which include stiffness, pain, swelling, and restricted range of motion - are very similar to those of the Ayurvedic entity Katigraha & Katishoola, which falls under the Vatavyadhi category (Diseases of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems). Although it affects a large population, katishoola is not a dangerous disease. During the initial phases, bed rest, traditional medicine, and basic therapies will help it go away. Acharya Charaka explains Kati Shoola as one of the Vataja Nanatamaja Vikaras. The condition is treated with modalities that are helpful in calming Vata. Basti Chikitsa is the most significant Panchakarma because it significantly calms the morbid Vata, the only Dosha accountable for Out of Panchakarmas, Basti Chikitsa is most important as it radically pacifies the morbid Vata, the sole Dosha, responsible for the movements of all Dosha, The most prevalent long-term musculoskeletal ailment is low back pain (LBP).
