A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF SUDARSHANA (CRINUM LATIFOLIUM LINN.)

ABSTRACT
Sudarshana (Crinum latifolium Linn.) is a well-known ornamental species, a home-grown herb in India, that belongs to the Amaryllidaceae family. Also known as Sukhdarshana in Ayurveda. The name of the plant itself signifies that simply gazing at it brings calm and contentment. The roots, stems, flowers, and leaves of this plant are employed in herbal therapy. The various parts of the plants are rich in bioactive compounds, which are used to cure a wide range of illnesses, including earaches, rheumatism, piles, whitlow, etc. Reference materials from a variety of treatises, different Nighantus, Ayurvedic literature, and the internet were used to compile all the information on this plant. The contributions of such a study can help to establish the plant profile, similar varieties, medicinal uses, active components, and safety profile of the plant, which can lead to further research.
