DEVELOPMENT AND ASSESSMENT OF POLYHERBAL HAIR GEL WITH ANTI-DANDRUFF PROPERTY

ABSTRACT
Aim of the project work was to formulate and evaluate a herbal hair gel containing plant extracts which having antidandruff activity. This antidandruff hair gel composed of extracts of shikakai, lemon and flaxseed. Shikakai and lemon shows antidandruff property, where flaxseed have conditioning effects. Shikakai extract prepared by hot distillation when combined with lemon, is a better remedy for dandruff. Polyherbal preparations are have more importance as they have better efficacy and least side effects. Quality evaluation of the product was carried out by using various standard evaluation methods. No change was found in the physical properties including colour, odour and the rheological properties. The product has shown antifungal activity, optimum homogeneity, spreadability, pH during study period of project work The pH of the hair products are important as it affectsthe scalp and hair follicle. We carried out stability studies and shown good stability throughout a period at room temperature and refrigerator temperature. Hair gels can shows specific action against dandruff, split ends, dryness, hair fall etc. In addition to anti-dandruff property, the polyherbal formulation also makes the hair smoother, prevent breakage, reduces the frizz in the hair and provides protection from pollution. Most efficiently an antidandruff hair gels are more marketed as the dandruff problems are more common in people.
