ABSTRACT
This study aims to identify and quantify the phytochemical content found in leaf extracts of Aristolochia indica (Aristolochiaceae) and Boerhavia diffusa (Nyctaginaceae). Flavonoids and tannins were identified by phytochemical investigation of Aristolochia indica. Steroids, carbohydrates, alkaloids, and saponins were also detected.[1][2] Pharmacognostic study reveals information about moisture content, total ash value, water content, and acid insoluble value. A significant amount of flavonoids, tannins, phenolic compounds, saponins, and alkaloids were found in the methanolic leaf extract of Boerhavia diffusa, according to a quantitative phytochemical examination.[3] In general, this investigation will help to characterize the crude medications and could be used as a diagnostic tool to standardize these therapeutic plants.
