Abstract

QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE ESTIMATION OF PHYTOCHEMICALS OF CELOSIA ARGENTEA. LINN

ABSTRACT

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the phytochemicals of Celosia argentea qualitatively and quantitatively. Celosia argentea has been widely used in traditional medicine. The chemical or bioactive compounds are present naturally in any of the plant is done in this study from the extract obtained after mixing the powdered sample with 75% Aqueous, Acetone, Chloroform, Ethanol and Petroleum Ether solvent making filtered solution was stored to used Phytochemical screening. The result showed Tannin, Saponins, Quinone, Flavonoids, Alkaloids, Terpenoids, Phenols and Steroid the identified phytochemical compounds. The extracts of Celosia argentea showed phytochemicals which have bioactivity and are the source of herbal drugs.
