Abstract

A COMPARATIVE PHARMACEUTICO-ANALYTICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF LANGALI GHRITA AND MADHUCHISHTADHYA GHRITA W.S.R TO ITS BURN WOUND HEALING PROPERTY

ABSTRACT

Life science discoveries are helpful in improving the quality and standard of life and have applications in health and pharmaceutical industries. Rasashastra and Bhaishajya kalpana known as the art of vedic alchemy is a fusion between mineral and organic compounds. In Ayurvedic classics sneha kalpana has gained its own importance. It consists of samskara anuvarthitwa guna that can enhance the therapeutic properties of the drugs which are used in the preparation which makes the ghrita kalpana superior. Langali Ghrita and Madhuchishtadhya ghrita is such a preparation mainly indicated in Dagdhavrana. The ghrita was prepared by general method. In experimental study wound inflicted by molten wax burn wound method on wister strain albino rats. Criteria to asses was the epithelialization and duration of wound healing. Follow up is done on post operative day 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, 20th and 24th day. The statistical analysis reveals Madhuchishtadhya ghrita application is more effective than Langali ghrita and standard drug silver sulfadiazine with 99.70%
change of wound contraction from day one. Where as 98.12% in Langali ghrita and 96.79% in silver sulfadiazine.
