ABSTRACT
One significant qualitative and quantitative method that is used for the estimation of biological and pharmaceutical material is high performance liquid chromatography. In the HPLC various types of columns are used. The role and significance of HPLC columns in high-performance liquid chromatography systems is mainly focused in this review article. In this review we discusses highlighting advancements in stationary phase chemistries and their impact on analytical separations and historical evolution of HPLC columns. It explores the key characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of analytical columns, preparative columns, guard columns, derivatizing columns, and capillary columns in HPLC applications. Also, it explores into the various applications of HPLC columns in quality control, pharmaceutical analysis, and residual solvent analysis. The abstract accomplishes by highlighting the ongoing advancements and future developments in HPLC column technology, aiming to enhance efficiency, resolution and sensitivity in chromatographic separations for various scientific disciplines and pharmaceutical industries.
