PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES OF VAJRAK GHRITA IN PSORIASIS: A CRITICAL REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Psoriasis is a Chronic inflammatory and non-infectious skin condition, affects 1% of the global population, with a prevalence ranging from 0.44% to 2.8% in the Indian population. Manifesting as well-defined, slightly raised, dry erythematous macules with Silvery scales, it exhibits a typical extensor distribution. In Ayurveda Psoriasis can be co-related with Ek- Kushtha. The symptoms of Ek-Kushtha are Aswedana (Absence of Sweating), Mahavastu (Extensive Lesions), Matsyashakalopama (Fish-Like Scales) which resembles the symptoms of Psorisis. Vajrak Ghrita, a Polyherbal formulation which is used to critically analyze the anti-Inflammatory, anti-oxidant, Immunomodulatory activity effect in Psoriasis. The 9 ingredients of Vajrak Ghrita are Vasa(Adhatoda vasica), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Nimba (Azadirachta indica), Haritki(Terminalia chebula), Vibhitaki (Terminalia chebula), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Patola (Trichosanthes dioica), Kantakari (Solanumsurrattense), Karanja(Pongamia pinnata). Immunomodulatory activity, Antiinflammatory, Antioxidant activity have been reviews critically in this article.
