ABSTRACT
In Siddha textbook, Siddha Maruthuvam Sirappu, it is stated that Urticaria is the result of reaction of our body in response to allergic foods, some medicines and some are idiopathic. The symptoms mentioned are itching / rashes or both are seen in hands, legs & other parts of the body It may be acute (< 6wk) or chronic (>6wk). Differential diagnosis of Urticaria may be confused with a variety of other dermatologic diseases which are similar in appearance & are also pruritic. Usually, however, it can be distinguished from these diseases by an experienced clinician. Urticaria is not contagious, unless the swollen hives themselves contain a pathogen. The exact figures are lacking from many countries but it is not an uncommon condition. More than one fifth of the world population suffer at a time. It is a common, annoying reaction pattern affecting almost 10-15% of the population at one time or the other during their lifetime. No age is exempt, but its incidence is higher at puberty and middle age. This documentation will help as a reference for need and DIAGNOSIS using siddha parameters in cases of Urticaria.
