ABSTRACT
Recently, there has been a surge in interest in medicinal plants due to their numerous benefits. Cosmetics, which are composed of mixtures of chemical compounds derived from natural or synthetic sources, have also seen a trend towards incorporating natural ingredients. Beetroot (beta vulgaris L.) is one such plant with compounds that offer potential benefits for body health, skincare, and even food additives. In this study, the focus was on utilizing beetroot to prepare herbal blush. The formulation involved combining beetroot juice with ingredients such as Zinc Oxide, Talcum, Liquid Paraffin, Kaolin, and Isopropyl Myristate. Blush, a cosmetic product available in powder or cream form, is typically applied to the cheeks to add a natural-looking flush of color or for a more dramatic effect. Beyond adding color, blush can help soften facial features and give the cheeks a rounder, cherub-likeappearance. Application techniques involve starting slightly lower on the apples of the cheeks and following a curved, U-shaped motion along the cheekbones towards the temples. The aim of this research was not only to formulate an herbal blush but also to evaluate its efficacy. Preformulation study investigated to determine its suitable for herbal blush various parameters (powder flow properties) such as Bulk density, Tapped density, Angle of repose, Carr’s index, Hausner’s ratio. By incorporating natural ingredients like beetroot into cosmetics, this study aimed to offer consumers a healthier alternative while still providing effective and aesthetically pleasing products. Conclusion compared to synthetic blushes, herbal blush products frequently contain mild, natural components that are less likely to irritate the skin.
