Mahendran R.*, Venkata Rathina Kumar T. and Abdul Hassan Sathali A.

ABSTRACT

The study investigates the pharmacological properties of Delonix regia leaves extract, aiming to explore its potential as a natural remedy for arthritis and inflammation. Preliminary phytochemical screening revealed the presence of bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, polyphenols, terpenoids, carbohydrates, proteins, aminoacids and alkaloids. In vitro assays, including bovine serum albumin denaturation and proteinase inhibitory assays showed substantial inhibition of auto antigen production and protein denaturation. Additionally, the extract exhibited significant membrane-stabilizing activity in the HRBC membrane stabilization assay. These findings suggest that Delonix regia extract possesses promising anti-arthritic and anti-inflammatory properties, potentially mediated by the inhibition of inflammatory mediators and autoantigen production. The study highlights the therapeutic potential of Delonix regia as a natural remedy for arthritisand inflammation, warranting further research to explore its clinical applications and mechanisms of action.
