ABSTRACT
Herbal remedies serve as the primary treatment in traditional medicine systems. The goal of this study was to investigate multiple aspects of pharmacognostical and phytochemical analysis of Flueggea leucopyrus Willd leaves. Leaf powder was extracted using hydroalcohol as a solvent. Pharmacognosy research encompasses the examination of organoleptic and microscopic characteristics, as well as the assessment of physicochemical parameters including ash values, water-soluble ash, acid-insoluble ash, foreign matter, loss on drying, extractive value, and fluorescent analysis. It also involves quantitative assessment of phytoconstituents and preliminary screening for phytochemicals such as alkaloids, carbohydrates, anthraquinone glycosides, cardiac glycosides, cyanogenetic glycosides, sterols, flavonoids, proteins, amino acids, terpenoids, saponins, and tannins. This study aims to offer valuable insights for accurately identifying and authenticating the medicinal plant, thus aiding in the prevention of contamination.
