Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis (HT) is one of the Primary types of Hypothyroid Autoimmune disorders that occurs usually in females. In Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis there is a marked lymphocytic infiltration especially of T cells and Auto Antibodies are directed against Follicular cells of Thyroid tissue, which eventually hampers the functioning of thyroid gland leading to Hypothyroidism. The signs and symptoms include tiredness, weakness, dry skin, cold intolerance, hair loss, difficulty concentrating, poor memory, constipation, weight gain with poor appetite, hoarse voice, irregular menstrual cycle and myxoedema. The diagnosis can be made by Anti TPO antibodies, Anti Thyroglobulin Antibodies, elevated TSH, TRH with reduced T4 levels and delayed tendon reflex relaxation. Management in contemporary science includes T4 replacement therapy by oral administration of Levothyroxine. In present case a 20-year-old female presented with complaints of weight gain, hair fall, delayed menstruation, was diagnosed as a case of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and was treated with Ayurveda Shamana oushadhi which are Deepana, Pachana, Kapha medo hara and Rasayana in nature.
