ABSTRACT
It has been discovered that boswellic acid are beneficial in a wide range of different inflammatory and immunological disorder. Gummi Boswellii, often known as Olibanum or Frankincense, is an oleo-gum resin derived from 24 (out of 25) distinct plant species in the genus Boswellia and family Burseraceae. Globally, genus is found, especially in the dry woods of West Bengal and Punjab, India. The indigenous system of medicine has wholly relied on natural sources for the formulation of an innovative drug treatment to cure human aliment. Almost 3000 plants have been evaluated scientifically for advantageous effects based on potent phytochemicals from traditional herbs. The roots of Ayurveda can be found in the earliest works of Indian literature of Rigveda and Atharvaveda. Plant materials are the primary ingredient in Ayurvedic medicinal preparation, these materials can be found in powder, semi-solid preparation, tinctures, minerals, animal product. A simple, rapid, selective and quantitative HPTLC method has been developed for the validation of Polyherbal formulation containing Boswellia serrata.
