Prathamesh Palase* and Vishal Gaikwad*

ABSTRACT

Punica granatum is the botanical name for the pomegranate, a plant that bears fruit and is a member of the Punicaceae family. The region of northern India is where Punica granatum originated. The pomegranate (Punica granatum L.), a food high in nutrients, has many health advantages phytochemicals. The purpose of this research is to ascertain the antimicrobial, anti- adhesive, immune modulatory, anti-cardiovascular, gastric inflammation, and bone health contents of locally grown and popular pomegranate varieties. Pomegranate peels are a significant source of potentially beneficial bioactive compounds. Variations in urinary tract infections (UTIs) activity includes total phenolics, flavonoids such as punicalagins, and derivatives of gallic and ellagic acid. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most
common infections, and treating them becomes more challenging as a result of numerous repeated episodes, which are mostly caused by uropathogenic Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Although long-term antibiotic therapy is a successful treatment for recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), it has drawbacks such as the formation of pathogenic strains that are resistant to almost all medications. The purpose of this work is to provide an overview of pomegranates in relation to the state of theories about their traditional medicine, their dissemination over the Silk Road, their chemical compositions, pharmacological activity, toxicological properties, and the pathways involved.

Keywords: Pomegranate peel, Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), Activity, Bacteria, Polyphenols.
