ABSTRACT

Ayurveda the ancient science of medicine, has a rich history dating back to the Vedic era. It offers a holistic approach to life, health, and healing, with two main goals: maintaining good health and treating diseases. Among its various branches, Rasayana focuses on maintaining health through proper nutrition.[1] Rasayanas are generally nutrition promoters, but there are specific ones like Medhya Rasayana for the brain, Hridya Rasayana for the heart and Chaksusya Rasayana for the eyes. Medhya Rasayana in particular, is known to enhance cognitive functions, regenerate neural tissues, reduce stress, improve memory, and slow down brain aging. First chapter of Charak Samhita Chikitsa sthan mentions four Medhya Rasayana. The use of the juice of Mandükaparni (Centella asiatica) the powder of Yastimadhu (Glycirrhiza glabra) with milk, the juice of Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) along with its root and flowers and the paste of Sankhapuspi (Convolvulus pluricaulis) these Rasayana drugs are life-promoting, disease-alleviating, promoters of strength, Agni, complexion, voice and are intellect-promoting. of them, sankhapuspi is specifically intellect-promoting.[2]

According to Ayurveda both Vata and Kapha Dosha must be harmonized in order to increase Medha or Intellectual.[3] Memory is improved when Vata and Kapha are together. Pitta Dosha (Fire element) is important for Increasing sharpness and IQ.[4] To accomplish this objective by balancing the Tridosha, Ayurveda refers to both single medications and a class of pharmaceuticals are named as "Medhya Rasayanas" in the Charaka Samhita they are Mandukaparni Swarasa (Centellaasiatica), YastimadhuChurna (Glycirrhiza Glabra), GuduchiSwarasa (Tinosporacordifolia), and Shankhapushpi Kalka (Convolvulus pluricaulis)[5] Medhya Rasayana medicines are used to suppress and treat mental illnesses in people of various ages. These medications improve the ability to acquire (Dhi), retain (Dhriti) and remember information (Smriti).[6] Medhya Rasayana medicines are used to prevent and cure mental disorders and health Promotion in people of all age's groups.
