Abstract

A CONCEPTUAL REVIEW ON THERAPEUTIC EFFICACY OF KAJJALI: A MERCURY COMPOUND

ABSTRACT

Kajjali (Black Sulphide of Mercury), a Mercury Compound, is useful in many diseases and is an important ingredient of several Rasaushadhies. It is a mixture of Shuddha Parad (Purified Mercury) and Shuddha Gandhak (Purified Sulphur). Properties of Kajjali are described in many Rasashastra classics. Several researches are found to be done on the Pharmaceutical, Analytical and Toxicity study of Kajjali. Kajjali is also described as one of the Parad Bandha. In present conceptual study, a review has been taken from several Rasagrantha regarding therapeutic efficacy of Kajjali. Also research done regarding this is studied and the therapeutic indications and efficacy of Kajjali has been described.
