A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF HERBS AND THEIR ROLE IN WOUND MANAGEMENT

ABSTRACT
A wound is the result of an injury that disrupts the skin's anatomical and functional integrity. Wound healing is the body's complicated response to an injury, involving multiple stages of tissue remodelling or repair that can be categorised by a wide range of criteria. More than half of all medicines taken today worldwide are derived from plants or plant-based products, which are also widely utilised for the management and treatment of various kinds of wounds. There are a remarkable number of wound-healing botanicals that have been widely used .The potential of herbs as therapeutic agents in wound treatment is being investigated with increasing interest. This article offers a summary of several herbs that are used to treat wounds. In addition, the classification of wounds, the four stages of wound healing hemostasis, inflammation, maturation, and remodelling as well as the various variables influencing wound healing are presented in this review.
