ABSTRACT
Middle mediastinal thymomas are uncommon tumors originating from thymic tissue, presenting distinctive diagnostic and management challenges. We reported a case of a 38-year-old male with a middle mediastinal thymoma, illustrating its unusual clinical presentation and management strategies. The patient presented with a two-month history of dry cough and chest pain, and imaging revealed a large thymoma extending into the right pleural cavity. Surgical intervention, including thoracoscopy and sternotomy for thymectomy, was successfully conducted, leading to a smooth postoperative recovery. Middle mediastinal thymomas necessitate careful diagnostic evaluation and multidisciplinary collaboration for optimal management. Ongoing research is vital for refining surgical techniques and postoperative care strategies to improve outcomes in patients with this rare entity. This case underscores the significance of individualized treatment approaches and meticulous postoperative management in achieving favourable outcomes for patients with middle mediastinal thymomas.
