FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF ORNIDAZOLE FLOATING TABLETS FOR GASTRORETENTIVE DRUG DELIVERY

ABSTRACT

During childhood stomach is infected with Helicobactor pylori and used to cause peptic ulcers, under normal conditions they are not detected. It is present in more than half of the world population. To cure these peptic ulcers and get protection from bacteria antibiotics are used. Ornidazole is one of the antibiotics used to get protection from H pylori bacterium and cure the ulcers of stomach. Ornidazole helps to prevent infection after surgery and is used to treat dental infections, ulcers and pressure sores. So, it is the most beneficial drug to human beings. Considering the significance of this principle we proposed a formulation of ornidazole in our laboratory.
