SIGNIFICANCE & PROPERTIES OF MADHU W.S.R TO HONEY-A REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Honey has a very ancient history of being used in human beings. Due to its nutritional and medicinal benefits, it can be consumed in a variety of forms, including as a sweetener, flavouring ingredient and as a therapeutic purpose. The production of honey is widespread. It contains carbohydrates i.e fructose and glucose monosaccharides & significant Nutrients. As an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial agent, honey has a significant impact on wound healing and promotes the adhesion of skin grafts too. Scientifically, It’s importance has been acknowledged and there is significant evidence to back up its antibacterial and antioxidant capabilities, ability to prevent coughs, promote fe rtility, and heal wounds. It had been used in tablets, and powders etc as an anupana. along with in processing of confections and electuaries. However, regarding it’s issue of adulteration, becoming more prevalent in the current scenario, it had been consistently indispensable to utilize pure and potent honey in order to get desired results and to deny the counterfeit and adulterated honey that is available in the market at a lower price. The current study attempts to review honey besides as a madhu, kshaudra etc in classical ayuvedic texts.
