MARMA THERAPY IN VATAKANTAKA (PLANTAR FASCIITIS): A CRITICAL REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Vatakantaka is a very painful condition of heel due to improper placement of foot on the ground or by walking over often frequently associated with plantar fasciitis, a painful inflammation of tissue. In age group between 40-60 years Plantar fasciitis is most common. It is due to vitiation of Kapha- Vata Doshas with mild to severe pain in the Pada (foot), Parshini (heel), Gulpha (ankle), Jangha (calf) of the patient. It can be managed by Bahya and Abhyantara Chikitsa such as Stahnika Snehana, Upanaha, Agnikarma, Raktavsechana, Bandhana, Suchikarma (Viddhakarma) and Abhyantara Erand snehapaana. In addition to helping with Vata Vyadhi, Marma treatment also opens up channels and enhances bodily circulation. Marma therapy procedure can prove to be one of the easiest ways to reduce the pain in plantar fasciitis.
