Saisha S. Choudhary*, Yogesh N. Gholse, Rahul H. Kasliwal and Dinesh R. Chaple

ABSTRACT

Traditionally kajal is known as surma or kohl which is used as an eyeliner. The research on herbal kajal focuses on its formulation, development, and evaluation using natural ingredients like Aloe vera, almond, camphor, castor oil, cow ghee, and rose oil. The study aims to formulate and evaluate a safe and effective herbal kajal alternative to conventional kajal. Herbal kajal offers benefits such as improved patient compliance, water resistance, stability, and affordability. The research involves the preparation of herbal kajal through a meticulous process that includes standardization of base ingredients, formulation, and evaluation based on organoleptic properties, pH, spreadability, and chemical parameters like acid value, saponification value, and ester value. The findings indicate that the formulated herbal kajal meets quality standards, providing a natural and safe option for eye care and cosmetic use.
