EVALUATION OF THE ANTIULCER ACTIVITY OF LEAF EXTRACT OF BRYOPHYLLUM PINNATUM IN WISTAR RATS WITH INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research work is to investigate the leaves of the plant Bryophyllum Pinnatum and to evaluate the antiulcer activity with inflammatory bowel disease. The present work is the phytochemical screening from the IPA extract plant of Bryophyllum Pinnatum, then inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) was induced in male Wistar rats by intra-rectal administration of 0.1 ml of 6% acetic acid solution at 5 cm proximal to the anus. The extract of Bryophyllum Pinnatum 200 & 400 mg/kg and standard are administered for drug treatment was continued till the 10th day. The evaluation of Body weight, Morphological analysis of the Colon and Caecum, Ulcer index, Myeloperoxidase assay and Histopathological studies. Finally, tested animal experimental BP-400 mg/kg is better antiulcer activity with inflammatory bowel disease than BP-200 mg/kg.
