SYNTHESIS AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF NOVEL SUBSTITUTED BENZOXAZOLE DERIVATIVES

ABSTRACT
In this study, we aimed to synthesize some new benzoxazole derivatives bearing amide moiety and evaluate their antimicrobial activity. A set of seven novel compounds of 2-methyl-5-[4-(substituted-piperazin-/piperidin)acetamido]benzoxazole derivatives were synthesized by reacting 2-Chloro-N-(2-methylbenzoxazol-5-yl)acetamide with corresponding piperidine or piperazine derivatives in acetone. The structures of the final compounds were confirmed by spectral data (IR, 1H-NMR and MS). The antimicrobial activity of the compounds were determined by using the microbroth dilution method. Antimicrobial activity results revealed that synthesized compounds not
exhibited remarkable activity.
