FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF TRAMADOL HYDROCHLORIDE SUSTAINED RELEASE MICRO CAPSULES

ABSTRACT
The aim of present work is to prepare and characterization of microcapsules of Tramadol Hydrochloride. The microcapsules were spherical and free flowing. The entrapment efficiency was 62.89-75.33%. Highest entrapment was observed in the microcapsules prepared with Cellulose Acetate Butyrate (CAB). The entrapment efficiency was increased with the decrease in the polymer content. The release of drug from the microcapsules extended up to 12 to 16 hours. The drug release pattern from the optimised formation was best fitted to first order Higuchi square method.
