ABSTRACT
Bone fractures are common injuries that can have significant impacts on an individual's health and quality of life. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) offers a holistic approach to fracture management, focusing on restoring the body's natural balance and promoting healing. This comprehensive review explores the efficacy of TCM modalities, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, and manual therapies, in the treatment of bone fractures. Acupuncture, a key component of TCM, has been shown to reduce pain, inflammation, and promote bone regeneration in patients with fractures. Herbal medicines such as Du Zhong, Gu Sui Bu, and Niu Xi have demonstrated bone-strengthening properties and have been traditionally used to promote fracture healing. Manual therapies such as Tui Na massage and bone-setting techniques are also integral to TCM fracture care, aiming to realign bones and improve circulation. This review critically evaluates the existing literature on TCM's efficacy in managing bone fractures, highlighting the strengths and limitations of current research. While many studies have shown promising results, further research is needed to elucidate the mechanisms of action of TCM modalities and optimize their use in clinical practice. Understanding the role of TCM in fracture management is crucial for integrating traditional and modern approaches to improve patient outcomes.
