Abstract

NON PHARMACOLOGICAL TREATMENT OF PSORIASIS VULGARIS

Yamin Kadiyawala, Kruti Joshi*, Tanvi Lad and Dr. Mohit Buddhadev

ABSTRACT

Psoriasis is a non-epidemic infection and an obnoxious skin disease that can also cover the entire profile of the individual. These are long-lasting autoimmune diseases described as white to red spots on the skin that are abnormal with scaly, irritated spots. They were eliminated early after only 7 to 10 days. Common symptoms of psoriasis are dry skin, swollen joints, pain, depression, signs of pustular psoriasis, itching and burning sensations, genital lesions... Finally, non-pharmacological treatment options, including phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, laser therapy and some radiotherapy options, are also considered but cannot be recommended as treatment options. Psoriasis is a chronic disease, with no cure yet. Some recommended treatments for this condition include nutritional counselling, lifestyle modifications, and therapies such as wet cupping (Hijamah), leechtherapy, and phlebotomy. These recommendations can help prevent recurrence and are helpful in improving psoriasis. The association between psoriasis severity and metabolic comorbidities, anxiety, depression, smoking, and alcohol abuse has been confirmed in several studies. Despite these strong associations, data remain limited on the impact of nonpharmacological interventions in psoriasis. It is recommended to regularly assess blood pressure, body mass index, waist circumference, smoking, alcohol consumption, serum lipids, and fasting glucose in psoriasis patients.
