ABSTRACT
Plants contain secondary metabolites having therapeutic values, nearly 80% of human population in developing country are depends on plant products for the treatment of various infections. Plants are rich sources for preparation of medicines so that searching for the new medicines are well justified. So, human being was still using plant products to treatment of infectious diseases, and some of the traditional medicines are a part of the habitual treatment of various diseases. The present research work deals with phytochemical analysis to detect the major classes of bioactive compounds present in methanolic and aqueous extract of Hibiscus sabdariffa and Rosa centifolia flowers and antimicrobial evaluation of Hibiscus sabdariffa and Rosa centifolia flowers against several microbial population using standard agar disc diffusion technique and minimal inhibitory concentration. Phytochemical analysis of Hibiscus sabdariffa shown the presence of major components like flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, anthocyanins and polysaccharides, and Phytochemical analysis of Rosa centifolia shown the presence of major components like flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, essential oils. These extracts shown variable results against the microorganisms, the results of minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the extracts against the microorganisms ranged from 25, 50 and 100mg/ml. These extracts of Hibiscus sabdariffa and Rosa centifolia could inhibit the microorganism under study with variable minimal inhibitory concentration. Keywords: Hibiscus sabdariffa, Rosa centifolia flowers and Antimicrobial activity. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
