A REVIEW ON RASA HRIDYA TANTRAc

ABSTRACT

The origin of Rasashastra has its roots in Indian alchemy. Rasashastra is the special science, which deals with metallic, mineral and poisionous drugs. These drugs are pharmaceutically processed and rendered fit for internal administration. In alchemy, the primary motto was conversion of base metals into noble metals i.e. Lohavada. Later the experts found out that the Sharirika Dhatu can also be enriched in the same way. This study came to be known as Dehavada. Rasa Hridya Tantra describes 18 mercurial processing to make mercury competent for transmuting base metals into noble ones and to produce therapeutic benefits with them. Present paper will highlight the framework of Rasa Hridya Tantra, providing information about the author, text, peculiarities and innovations. It will also throw a light towards contribution of Rasa Hridya Tantra in field of Ayurveda.
