ABSTRACT
The most common and preferable route of drug administration is through the oral route. Novel oral drug delivery systems aim to enhance safety and efficacy of drug molecule by formulating a convenient dosage form for ease of administration and to achieve better patient compliance. Orodispersible tablets (ODTs) are among these systems, the concept of Orodispersible tablets is to disperse the tablets within seconds in the mouth in the presence of saliva with no need for water, and without any difficulty of swallowing due to the presence of superdisintegrants in their formulation. This study aims to solution the common problem of dysphagia by developing Orodispersible tablets that rapidly dissolve in the oral cavity without the need for water. The objective is to provide a convenient dosage form that improves patient compliance and enhances the safety and efficacy of therapy. Ten different formulations have been developed in this study physical and chemical tests, dissolution testing indicated good performance in certain formulations, the formulation was optimized to achieve desired characteristics such as optimumdisintegration time, hardness, friability, and stability, The results showed successful formulations with good performance in dissolution testing and drug content analysis, The optimized formulation, F10 has the best evaluation parameter tests with the values: disintegration time (14sec), dissolution (95.40%), drug content (96.9%) and demonstrated favorable physical and chemical properties. These findings highlight the effectiveness of F10 in delivering the drug effectively and efficiently. It was concluded the formulated and evaluated Orodispersible tablets ODTs of Domperidone the optimized formulation demonstrated promising physical and chemical properties, meeting required standards and providing intended therapeutic benefits among all formulations the best formulation was found to be F10 due to the maximum drug release which was 95.40% in 5 minutes and the assay of Domperidone was within the acceptable limit.
