ABSTRACT
In the current research, we have investigated the effect of Phyllanthus niruri Linn on streptozoacin induced insulin resistance models. Various biochemical estimations like glucose, cholesterol. Triglycerides, LDL and HDL levels and anti-oxidant estimations like TBARS SOD, CAT, and GSH were estimated in two different doses of Phyllanthus niruri (200 and 400mg/kg p.o.) and then compared with the standard and induced compound. Phyllanthus niruri at a dose of 200mg/kg and 400mg/kg prevente thedevelopment of hyperglycemia, hypercholesteremia and hypertriglyceridemia in streptozotacin induced insulin resistance models. Oral administration of Phyllanthus niruriLinn 100mg/kg and 200mg/kg reduces serum glucose, triglyceride, total cholesterols and LDL concentration and improve the concentration of HDL in streptozotacin administered rats. The lignin Phyllanthus niruriLinn showed significant anti-diabetic effect in rats after oral administration. The present study demonstrated that Phyllanthus niruri could be useful in Management of diabetesassociated with abnormalities in lipid profiles. Further study need to isolate, identify the active compounds and find out the possible mechanism of action.
