Abstract

A SUCCESSFUL MANAGEMENT OF EKAKUSHTA W.S.R TO PSORIATIC ERYTHRODERMA – A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT

Skin, the body‟s largest organ is a multi-layered which provides many function. Healthy skin is the reflection of healthy body, internal purity of blood & tissues. It creates an individual identity in the society. Psoriasis is a non-infectious, Auto immune disease which disturbs the normal texture of the skin and beauty of the individual resulting in physical, emotional and social burden. It occurs in all age groups and its prevalence in India ranges between 0.44 to 2.8%.[1] Erythrodermic psoriasis is a rare subtype of Psoriasis characterized by generalized erythema and scaling.[2] It can result from aggravation of a previous case of Unstable chronic plaque type of Psoriasis. There is no definite treatment in contemporary medical science. In the present case study, Psoriatic Erythroderma, primarily a late stage of the disease is correlated to Ekakushta. Thus, Ayurvedic approaches considering the Tara tama bhavas of doshas and Bala of Rogi were directed toeliminate vitiated doshas responsible for acute exacerbation of Kushta followed by basic principles of management of the disease Kushta, which has been proved to be effective with significant regression in the condition with no signs of relapse.

Keywords: In the present case study, Psoriatic Erythroderma, primarily a late stage of the disease is correlated to Ekakushta.
