TARGET DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM, A REVIEW ARTICLE
Rishi Kumar*, Manjit Kaur and Dr. Rajesh Gupta
ABSTRACT
Targeted drug delivery systems play an important role in the medical field by improving therapeutic efficacy and minimizing side effects. The delivery system is designed to retain the intact drug unchanged until it reaches the target site and is released. It aims to provide an overview of recent advances in targeted drug delivery systems, highlighting their potential applications, challenges and future perspectives. Different targeting strategies are discussed, including passive and active targeting, and the role of nanotechnology in improving drug delivery. The review also covers different types of carriers such as liposomes, nanoparticles and their ability to encapsulate and deliver drugs to specific targets. In addition, the paper explores the importance of cancer treatments and their ability to release drugs in response to certain triggers. Finally, the challenges and future trends of targeted drug delivery systems are discussed, highlighting the need for further research and development in this promising field.
Keywords: Targeted drug delivery, nanotechnology, passive targeting, active targeting, liposomes, nanoparticles.
