A CRITICAL REVIEW: POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME ACCORDING TO MODERN SCIENCE AND AYURVEDA

ABSTRACT
Most challenging health condition in gynecology for the medical science is polycystic ovarian syndrome, with the prevalence rate of 8-13% with 70% cases undiagnosed,[1] the exact etiology still being the subject of research. But the most common cause being the lifestyle. PCOS being the most common endocrine and metabolic disorder affecting the women of reproductive age group not only affects the fertility but also in long run also leads to major health conditions like type 2 diabetes millets, hypertension which can be fatal.[2] Very limited treatment regimes in modern medicine with long term use side effects requires a sustainable and effective treatment regimens of ayurveda in treating this condition, which requires a thorough understanding the pathogenesis of pcos according to ayurveda as well as modern science.
