ABSTRACT
Topical film forming system is a novel approach for treatment of skin diseases give both topical and transdermal treatment. Formed film acts as a matrix for sustained release of drug and it also improves the patient compliance. This Film- forming spray formulation has several desirable effect such as easily applied, improve drug delivery, reduce dose frequency, omitted first pass effect, lower incidence of irritation and enhance drug delivery. This article discusses the types and concentrations of drugs, polymers and excipients, evaluations, and critical parameters in determining spray ability and film characteristics. The review concludes that both natural and synthetic polymers that have in situ film or viscoelastic properties can be used to optimize topical drug delivery.
Keywords: Topical Film-Forming spray, Novel, Epidermis, Polymeric formulation.
