THERAPEUTIC POTENTIAL OF SNAKE VENOM IN CANCER THERAPY

ABSTRACT
Introduction: There are different reviews were discussed on the topic ‘Therapeutic potential of snake venom in cancer therapy’. The purpose of the review regarding the rapeutic potential of snake venom in an attempt to establish a scientific basis for use of snake venom for treatment of cancer. From this review, snake venom is a complex mixture contains number of proteins, peptides, enzymes, toxins, and non-protein inclusions. These studies are discussed and proved that the cytotoxic effect of the snake venom have potential to degrade or destroy tumor cells. Cytotoxin and cardiotoxin in the venom causes damage to cell membrane or interfere with the transport of substance or transduction of the signals across the membrane.
