ABSTRACT
Cynomorium songaricum Rupr. (C. songaricum) has been used as medicine to treat a wide range of illnesses. Until now, there are still lack of research performed and reported about evaluation of flavonoid and polyphenol from each part of C. songaricum. Therefore, this project performed a thorough and systematic research of the total flavonoid and polyphenol content of C. songaricum plants (Kon Tum, Vietnam). C. songaricum was divided into stem, root, and aerial part. Phytochemical evaluation was performed to identify polyphenol and flavonoid by using H2SO4 and FeCl3 10%, respectively. The part of C. songaricum that successful identified flavonoid and polyphenol content were continued to check the effect of temperature. The polyphenol and flavonoid contents in different parts of C. songaricum were compared the interation between the extraction conditions. As a result, all three parts of C. songaricum showed flavonoid andpolyphenol content since the experiments showed the change of color in solution. Stem and aerial part showed the change of color clearly than root, so they were predicted to have significant higher TPC and TFC than root. For TPC, the highest value of aerial part, stem, root was 163.96 mgNE/g, 130.19 mgNE/g and 33.57 mgNE/g, respectively. For TFC, the highest value of aerial part, stem, root was 367.65 mgNE/g, 254.23 mgNE/g and 57.45 mgNE/g, respectively. The idea conditions to get high TFC and TPC are 80°C, 3hours, and 70% ethanol concentration. In conclusion, the aerial part showed the highest flavonoid and polyphenol concentration, and the last were root since it had very poor results.
