AYURVEDIC PRECONCEPTIONAL CARE IN MODERN ERA

ABSTRACT

Preconceptional care is the care or advice given to couples planning for pregnancy before the actual conception. The healthy progeny are born when the parents are absolutely healthy. The absolute health status defines the way the child‟s future physical and mental capabilities. Such capabilities can be naturally enhanced by preconceptional care as mentioned in Ayurveda. The preconceptional care was described centuries back by the name of Garbhadhana vidhi to get a physically, mentally and intellectually healthy progeny by following the regimens and rituals. Ayurvedic preconceptional measures helps to achieve the goal of preparing couples for a new life and contribute towards a healthy society.
