A SINGLE ARM CLINICAL TRIAL TO EVALUATE THE EFFICACY OF SHATAVARI CHURNA IN PREMENSTRUAL SYNDROME

ABSTRACT
Women's health is important, and prioritizing it contributes to the overall well-being of individuals, families, and communities. Premenstrual Syndrome or PMS is a psycho-neuro-endocrine disorder consisting of a constellation of mood, behavioural and /or physical symptoms, that have a regular clinical relationship to the luteal phase of menstrual cycle. The symptoms start one week prior to onset of menses and suppressed after menstrual cycle. Some symptoms of PMS include- breast tenderness, joint pain, headache, insomnia, anxiety, increased appetite and fatigue. Drug shatavari has medya and rasayana effect and is best for females. It has proved clinical relevance in pacification of somatic symptoms along with improvement of psychomotor aspect of diseases. So in present study an attempt is made to evaluate the effect of shatavari churna in PMS. RESULT: Overall improvement of 30.67% in PMS Scale score was observed, with p value indicating statistically significant effect. The study reveals thatshatavari has effective role in PMS.
